100th Anniversary

A creative welcome to a 100th anniversary party for a great local business at the Fess Parker Doubletree a few years ago. If you're going to get a great old car like that you really have to look the part!

On the Drums

Another shot from a great party and a beautiful evening. This guy was the lead singer most of the evening, but he is quite multi-tallented and quite quick to follow with the camera!

Bacara Horns

A great band playing at an event at the Bacara. The lighting was really nice allowing me to get up close and see the concentration in the musician's faces. I'm probably a bit of an oddball, but I love attending parties as the photographer more than if I was invited as a guest!

Yacht Racers

This evening walking out to the breakwater at the harbor, we immediately noticed something a little different. In the distance there was a noticeable presence that was a little out of the ordinary. In the place where the hard working fishing boats normally sleep tucked safely away in their slips, there was a very orderly procession of perfectly identical (and very large) sail boat masts. As we got closer we saw that the location is now (I assume temporarily) inhabited by a fleet of very nice looking racing yachts. It seems there is some sort of race in town, and the people involved were having a great time at the many restaurants along the harbor. This area is usually quite festive with tourists and people out for an enjoyable evening, but this evening there was an even more noticeable party atmosphere.

Fourth of July Over Santa Barbara

We usually try to avoid the crowds when there is some sort of celebration in town. (The exception being the Solstice Parade.) This year however, I was looking for a nice Independence Day Photograph for a project I'm working on. The thing is I would not really have been interested in the normal looking-up-from-the-crowd shot anyway. So earlier in the day we spent some time scoping out a nice angle that would include the Wharf and a more interesting Santa Barbara view and this is the result. It always helps to scout your locations ahead of time.

Happy Independence Day!! And thank you to all the brave people in uniform who make this day possible.
