Yes as a matter of fact I am one of those crazy people who thinks of their animals as their kids! :-DIf you had animals like mine you would too.
'Course, if you had animals as smart as mine and you treated them like most people treat their pets you'd probably get an unpleasant present in your favorite shoes.

Bill, My girlfriend forwarded your site and love the Pip-Squaker. I understand your comment about pets as kids. We have a little parrot in our home that runs the household and lets me know when someone is approaching the front porch.. Now I must go to look at more of your photos. Thanks for sharing. |

RE: The Bird | |
A watch-bird! Excellent! Animals know when they are part of the family, and they know when they are just possesions. Like everything I think you get out of a relationship with an animal what you put in. There is an Amazon Parot that lives at a dog kennel here in Santa Barbara. He (or she) is always having a real conversation with himself when I pass by. One day I heard him meowing repeatedly. Ok, not totally out of the ordinary. But after he hit the right note it set some of the dogs off on a barking frenzy. At that point, the parrot burst into laughter! Whether you chalk it up to elaborate mimicry, or think there is something more going on there, he is an amazing bird and he always sounds happy. Birds are great! Thanks for your feedback! |

Pip squackers | |
Hello, Bill, I was wondering if you knew if pip squacker is a made up aka name by Hanna Barbera in the Tom and Jerry "Hold That Pose" episode, or is that the true nickname for the Zebra Finch? Does the cartoon mention that it is a Zebra Finch, or how did you know what kind of bird it was, based on a cartoon drawing? Do you have any other reference for the Pip Squacker name for me to do some research? thanks for your help or any additional info you can provide. |

![]() I guess I just really liked Tom and Jerry. I remember the way the bird would always make the "Pip Squak" sound in the cartoon during the narration instead of the narrator saying his name. My bird seems to carry on entire conversations with us, so I pulled the nick-name "Pip-Squaker" out of my memory from somewhere because it seemed fitting!
