California Sunset
Santa Barbara (where we live) is beautiful in general, don't get me wrong.
And, I have heard people try to extol the virtues of our south facing beach. But
you just don't get a sunset like this off of a
south facing beach! Which is probably one of the main reasons
I like exploring the rest of California.

Glowing Garden Rose
We recently got this rose a trellis because it was getting
huge. And, like I mentioned yesterday, I hate to cut my plants!
I don't believe it is a climber usually, but it really seems
happy on the trellis. This photo was taken when there was
just a shaft of afternoon sunlight shining down between
our umbrellas. Made for a nice dappled background.

Sunbeam
Zoe loves to travel with us. But she is glad to be home from
her adventure in Monterey. She was happy to see her sunbeam was
right where she left it for her mid morning nap. All that travel
takes a lot out of a hound!

Basking Monarch
We spent a day in San Luis Obispo last week.
It is a fun place to wander around and the
weather was great for it. We found this
guy while walking the hound by the mission.

Bougainvillea Sunlight
This is a nice Bougainvillea that was growing
on the outside of our fence. We have been
coaxing it up into an archway over our gate.
It is starting to bloom like crazy and it is
quite a site especially in the evenings when the
light shines through it.

Spring Evening
The hound picked a nice time for a walk this evening.
The light was beautiful. Finally a break from the rain
and it actually felt like spring. For better or
for worse the news anchors were excited about the
fact that we should actually have three beautiful days in a row!
Not exactly a long run for Southern California, but at this
point I'll take what I can get!

Laguna Sunset
My friend has taken up Sumi-e Ink painting and she is quite good at
it. (I'll add some links once she has her images online.)
I think this image has a bit of Japanese art feel to it. Although,
it would probably have to have fewer branches to qualify. Perhaps
this one is a little closer.
