Flaming Poppy Close-up

It was a wild weekend getting ready for a show, that is my only excuse.

This is the first day I missed a post since I started the site. But, I thought I should put something nice in this place for those of you that have come back to look.

Evening Poppy

I like to take pictures when the sun is low in the sky. The shadows are much more interesting. These Poppies are always beautiful subjects, but to just snap a photo of a white flower in the middle of the day would make for a pretty boring picture. The shadows here accentuate the shapes of the flower and add even more interest to an already beautiful flower.

Matilija Poppy

This flower looks like it is made of paper that someone crumpled and then flattened back out again. It is related to the Poppy. The day I took this picture was the first time I had ever seen one. They are quite a sight, it may be hard to tell because there is no context in this image for size, but this flower is about 6 inches across.
