State Street Farmers Market

State Street Farmers Market

This is State Street in Santa Barbara on a Tuesday afternoon. One of our larger farmers markets, although they set up at one place or another around town almost every day of the week. I was looking for some nice shots of the people on state street, and this turned out to be one of my favorites mainly because of the little girl's expression in the lower left.

Jordanos Outtakes

A fun outtake from a shoot today. People don't like their pictures taken, but that's usually because they look like they are in a line up. If you can have some fun with people and get them to laugh you get something much more natural. Of course, this shot is an out-take, they were moving a little too much. But the next few shots were perfect. Eveyone (including me) was smiling and having a good time.

The Worthy

The Worthy

This is the Jordanos Warehouse crew, or a small part of it anyway. Once we got working together we had some fun. This is the area where they were bringing orders together, and they would write in big black marker who the order was for. I thought the shots came out kind of cool around the big boxes marked "The Worthy". Not sure what that was, but it made for a great photo prop!

Paul Shields Chef

Looking through some older shots to add some samples for some new self promotions. This is one of my favorite people shots. This was one of the last projects I did completely on film. And on my favorite film, Fuji Velvia ISO 50 slide film. At the time I could still get a better shot with higher resolution and dynamic range from my old manual camera and my Nikon slide scanner. But the technology was catching up fast.

Pulling an Order

Pulling an order in the Jordanos Warehouse. I like the action in this shot. The guys in the warehouse were a really fun group to work with. They were a little quiet at first but once they found out I wasn't looking for the stuffy shots and it was ok to joke around we had some fun!

The Getty Center Magical Sunset

The Getty Center Magical Sunset

The Getty Center is as beautiful as the art it contains. This was about twenty minutes after sunset with a nice glow in the western sky. This spot by the fountain in front of the West Pavillion is one of my favorites but there are many spectacular views to choose from.
