Theresa Ann
Another shot from our recent wanderings at the Santa Barbara
harbor. It's a nice peaceful scene, but just to my left was
a popular restaurant on a balcony overlooking the
harbor. There were lots of people around waiting to get
in and having a good time. Next time I'll get an image that
includes the restaurants.

Santa Barbara Sunset Harbor
We spent a couple of evenings walking around the Harbor
watching the sun set this week. I think I could take a walk at the Harbor
and the Wharf every night with my camera and never get bored.
Every evening when I get home each photo that I love
gives me the ideas for three more next time.
This one was partially inspired by another vertical panorama
I took at the harbor almost two years ago.
It was later in the evening when I took that one, and you
can see the stars. But at the time I wondered what it would look like
from the other direction with the sunset sky. Now I have my answer!

Harbor Moonrise
You can see the moon coming up on the right side of the
photo, through the fog. This was an amazing night
to take pictures.

Day at the Beach
This is actually from last summer, but it felt so much like summer
around here yesterday I was feeling in the mood.
That water is looking better and better at 90 degrees with
no A/C!

Leadbetter Catamarans
Leadbetter beach is a popular tourist beach in
Santa Barbara. Usually these catamarans are
just lined up on the beach waiting for someone
to come along and rent them. You can see their
masts in this photo
taken very near that same spot.

Moonlit Harbor
I am still experimenting with evening photography.
It takes a longer exposure, but I use Fuji Velvia, which
is primarily a daylight film. The saturation makes this
film incredible.

Sunset Gull
Here are two different croppings of the same image.
I love trying to catch birds in flight and this
one was very cooperative! This was during a walk on
Leadbetter Beach (one of the main tourist beaches in Santa Barbara, by the Harbor) at sunset right after feeding the seagulls
a little bread. (Hey, I have to pay my models! And these guys are smart enough to get payment up front)
The poles sticking up in the air are the masts
of small rental catamarans on the beach.
And, if your monitor is bright enough to see it,
the rectangle on the pole at the right of the smaller image is an array of lights
over the sports field at Santa Barbara City College.
