| When I was first starting to tinker with my Canon AE-1 I did not have much money to purchase expensive lenses. So I took to scouring this new thing online called "eBay." At the time I could look through the entire photography section in about a half an hour. I got some strange lenses and toys from eBay, one of my favorites was a cheap filter that caused an interesting softness in my photos. The softness was unintentional, it was a side effect of the particular combination of filters I put together. In fact, it would be a bad thing for some subjects. But not for flowers! That combination of filters came to be known as my "Fuzzy flower filter" and even though I have much better lenses now, I still would not trade my beat up old filters for anything. | ||

Wild DaisyOne of the things I shoot a lot are these soft close-ups of flowers. In fact that was the subject of my first Photography show. But, of all of my flowers, this is one of my favorites. I like the fact that the flower is less perfect and symmetrical. It makes the petals and other parts of the flower stand out more. It is a little unexpected. |

Canna Close-upOne of my favorite subjects, flower closeups. This was actually the theme of my first show at the Santa Barbara Public Library in August '04This one is a special favorite because the plant was a gift from my mom over six years ago, and it is still going strong. |
