Charlie the Hound
This is one of the reasons I have been a little
behind lately. His name is Charlie. Through a really
bad chain of events he ended up in the Ventura animal
shelter with no hope of adoption. It was our job to go pick him up and take him
to one of the Basset Hound Rescues that we volunteer at.
As always happens on these trips I was totally attached to him
by the time we got there.
They said he was five or six years old, but he played like a puppy. I work really hard at a lot of different things, but I can't help feeling that this is one of the few things I do on a regular basis that really matters.

This is another one of my low depth of field experiments. I really like the way it helps you focus on one flower, but you can still see the others fading into the background. The lighting was something special on this one too. It was in a nursuy in Carpenteria, CA. The roof of the building we were in was translucent. It let the sun through, but the light was filtered and beautiful.

Baby Granny Smith Apple
I hope you enjoyed lots of good food and friends today!
Unfortunately I did not get to take any photos of the great feast, but this was one of the "aromatics" (to quote my favorite tv chef) that contributed to the meal.
I did get a little adventurous today and decided to throw away those silly little plastic bags we usually use for the turkey. I can now tell you that brining your turkey the night before is the way to go. Much more moist and tasty that way. This is the basic recipe I used. But since I had not thought about it before hand I improvised on some missing ingredients. (Also, onions are bad for The Hound, and almost everything we make is hound-safe. Not that she is spoiled or anything. :-D )
