Passion Vine
This is from one of the vines in my back yard.
I really like the little tendrils this
vine puts out to climb on things.
You would think nothing could stop it.
Of course, the butterflies that we got this
to attract have almost done it in.
When it comes back it comes back with a vengeance
but I think I am going to have to get it
some friends before the next invasion of butterflies.

Backlit Agapanthus
Last week, when I was loading my Jeep for a show,
I was fortunate enough to catch the sun at
a great angle on our little front yard area.
On a Saturday my Hound Dog and I would have
still been quite unconscious at this time.
This is a variety of Lily native to South Africa. It
grows like wild around here, and it's beautiful when
they really get going.

Poppy Buds
I used to take off a little early for work, just to go take
pictures. This was one of the shots I got at La Cumbre
Plaza, on upper state street. I actually got quite
a few nice shots from those morning trips through there.

Lily Bud
This is another one of my
"grow your own photo"
series. This was actually in my living room.
I grew the lilies from bulbs I got while on vacation.

Cactus Garden
Lotusland is an amazing place. The result of
one person's love of plants. Now it is
open to the public (by reservation). There are gardens of
all kinds, not just it's namesake
flowers. Some, like this cactus garden, are new since
the garden's benefactor, Ganna Walska, passed away.
It has been a wonderful place for a photographer,
rich with subjects you would never see in the wild.

First Blossom of Spring
I thought this was a fitting image for the beginning of spring.
Of course, with the crazy weather we have had, it looks more like
the middle of spring here. Most things are already in full bloom.

Prickly Pear Flower
There is a great cactus garden
on Figueroa Street in Santa Barbara. I pass there
often after eating at one of my favorite
restaurants, Los Arroyos.
I took this photo when I introduced my parents to
Los Arroyos for the first time. Ironically, they were in
town to see my first Photography exhibition,
a collection of flower close-ups.
