Batik Bearded Iris

 This Iris has not bloomed for years. It took us a while to get it settled in to our new back yard. This is the first blossom of what looks like will be a busy spring for it. The last time it bloomed, I got a great photo that was part of my first solo show at the Santa Barbara Public Library.

We are very happy to see it coming around, they are not the easiest things to find. For several years you could not buy them anywhere.

I always thought the little fuzzy area looked like a yellow caterpillar.

Alice's Ducks

 We had another nice walk through Alice Keck Park Memorial Gardens today. (Commonly mistaken as just Alice Keck Park. As in Alice Keck's park, but her name was Alice Keck Park, and it is her Memorial Garden.) I only point this out because it was not entirely clear to me until today. Actually, I guess I just never thought about it before today.

So, on to the Ducks. They were chasing each other around the pond the whole time we were there. Ahhh, spring is here! :-D

Ruffled Iris

 Actually, it might be a Siberian Iris. I could not find anything quite like it online and I looked at a lot of Irises. Come to think of it I have not seen an Iris like this anywhere before. They are growing in a park in downtown Santa Barbara.

Japanese Iris

 We went for a walk the other day with The Hound. I was hoping to find something to shoot so I could finish out a roll of film with pictures of our sand-dragon. I was fortunate enough to find this flower blooming in a spot where the sun filtered through to it. They are very hard to find in nice shape, as soon as the sun hits them they curl up.

Yellow Bearded Iris

 Another subject that makes a beautiful photo no matter how you look at it. But the backdrop of the other Iris' leaves make the beautiful flower stand out more. After all, you wouldn't put a beautiful picture in an ugly frame.

This is another photo I grew myself... :-)
